Kids and Bullies - How to respond like Jesus
At some point in their life, our kids will encounter a bully or another kid who is not treating them right. As Christians, how should we deal with that in a godly way? Do we treat them the way the world does, or is there a higher path? Although the truths are not something you'll hear everyday, it is a key to training up your kids to know what to engage with God in difficult situations!
Scriptures we referred to or used in our study for this podcast:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
2 Corinthians 10:3-4
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds."
Romans 12:12, 14, 17-21
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves.
This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty.
If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that.
If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.
